Each layer of irony used, prepared the reader to have the most dramatic response to the closing and ultimate blow that wrapped the whole tale up. I'd say the most primary and obtrusive form of irony used right here used to be situational irony. Jackson knew that what maximum peoples' impression of the lottery is winning money or something good. She performed on that and grew to become it into one thing utterly reverse.
